Chery’s Tiggo 8 Pro seven-seater, mid-sized SUV arrived in SA in 2022, and it is all that was promised. The current model Tiggo 8 Pro LS 1.6T 7DCT is powered by a 1,6-litre TGDI turbo-petrol engine and powers the front wheels through a seven-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox (sourced from German firm Getrag) with a power output of 145 kW and 290 Nm. In terms of build quality and driveability, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro checks all the boxes, as the ride is surprisingly smooth and comfortable.
The cabin is impressively luxurious for such an affordable car, with lots of usable space and classy finishes. There is ample room for taller drivers without impacting the room for passengers. You get a four-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, dual 12.3” LCD digital displays, dual-zone climate control, a 6-speaker Sony surround sound system, 50W wireless charging function, intelligent voice control, and ambient lighting. The interior is uncluttered, and the 12.3-inch touchscreen is easy to operate.
