If you are in the market for a jumbo-sized SUV and have been eyeing the Santa Fe and Sorento, it may be worth waiting a couple of months to see when the new Chery Tiggo 9 Pro arrives here.
The Tiggo 9 Pro has just been announced in China and it has created quite a buzz. Not only is it the biggest Tiggo Pro, but it also comes with a bold design update very different to what we have seen in the compact 4 Pro, the nippy 7 Pro and the spacious 8 Pro.
The Chery Tiggo 9 Pro Exterior
The 9 Pro is bigger and bolder in all aspects, from the giant 20” wheels to the enormous grille topping the prominent air scoop. The headlights are long, narrow LEDs that curve around the front corners, while the back is pleasingly understated, with LED cluster lights connected with a neat chrome bar.
Side on is a pleasing balance between elegant simplicity and enough detail to keep it looking interesting.
The Chery Tiggo 9 Pro Interior
Inside the 9 Pro is also completely new with flowing lines and a minimalist design. A 12.3-inch infotainment screen sits next to the same-size digital instrument panel, giving you wall-to-wall digital information.
Even the gear lever has migrated and now sits on the steering column.
At launch, it seems there will be a five- and seven-seater option available.
Chery Tiggo 9 Pro Power
The launch 9 Pro had the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol as the Tiggo 8 Pro Max – 187kW and 390 Nm FWD. There
is a suggestion that future Pro 9s could offer the option of a plug-in hybrid with around 236kW of power.Chery Tiggo 9 Pro Size
The Tiggo 9 Pro is big – 4,820mm long by 1,930mm wide and 1,690mm high. The wheelbase is 2,820mm.
Chery Tiggo 9 Pro In South Africa
Given that Chery has been here for a year and a bit, and in that time introduced The Tiggo 8 Pro, quickly followed by the 4 Pro and then the 7 Pro and these three models have sold over 10,000 units, it would be safe to assume we’ll see the Tiggo 9 Pro earlier rather than later. Before the end of the year, perhaps? We’re keeping our fingers crossed, for sure!
