Here’s what we know so far!

Chery’s Super Hybrid Platform Will Take Centre Stage

In the pursuit of environmentally considerate motoring, Chery has made significant strides with its Super Hybrid Platform, known as C-DM. The platform features Chery’s dedicated 1.5-litre turbo hybrid engine, paired with a hybrid-specific 3-speed DHT gearbox, three-element lithium battery pack, and an advanced battery management system.

The result? Comprehensive high performance, sustained high energy efficiency, and remarkable battery safety. The impressive performance metrics speak for themselves, with thermal efficiency exceeding 44.5%, a 0 to 100km/h acceleration in just 4.26 seconds, and a super-fast charge from 30% to 80% in a mere 18 minutes.

The Customers are Talking & Chery is Listening

Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa, says the brand’s commitment to a customer-oriented strategy. Chery plans to absorb over 100,000 comments and suggestions from customers before finalising new products for specific markets. Moreover, the possibility of local assembly is under consideration, with a focus on balancing sales volume, local manufacturing policies, regulations, and costs.

Chunqing Chen, Vice President of Chery International and CEO of Chery South Africa, hinted at a 10-year plan that includes the ICE/NEW ENERGY and, excitingly, a bakkie plan!

Chery’s Global Conservation Initiative to Cherish the Nature

On October 2023, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) signed a memorandum of cooperation. This marked the official global launch of the “Cherish the Nature” initiative – a collaborative effort to forge new ecological conservation and restoration models for forests, wetlands, and oceans.

The collaboration between Chery and IUCN will unfold in two stages. In the first phase (2023-2024), Chery will focus on enhancing awareness and capabilities in China. This involves gathering Chery’s Global Nature Ambassadors for knowledge exchange and learning at premier Nature-based Solutions (NbS) implementation sites. The goal is to build capacity and strategic planning for NbS, laying the groundwork for global projects.

From 2025 to 2028, the second stage will see Chery launching global projects in collaboration with IUCN-covered regions. The aim is to promote the “Cherish the Nature” NbS global initiative in countries and regions where Chery subsidiaries are established. The grand unveiling is planned for the 8th IUCN World Conservation Congress in 2025, with a vision to promote global ecological sustainability.
