Chery once again received the honours of being China’s top passenger vehicle exporter for another year (the 21st consecutive year in fact) going into 2024. The Chinese automaker remains one of China’s biggest vehicle exports with almost a million cars shipped around the world in 2023!
Chery reported sales of over 1.88 million vehicles in 2023, up 52.6 percent year-on-year. In December, Chery sold 215,690 vehicles, achieving month-on-month sales growth for 12 consecutive months in 2023. Revenue meanwhile soared 50 percent year-on-year to more than 300 billion yuan ($42.25 billion) last year.
Quality Affordable Vehicles
With its range of affordable vehicles that feature world-class technology and exceptional performance, Chery has excelled in a declining global market.
The company’s performance in South Africa also mirrors that of its global sales performance. Locally in South Africa Chery was ranked 11th on the list of automakers for December 2023 with 1,401 units sold.
The return of the Chery SUV to South Africa has helped the automaker’s success thanks to the Tiggo 4 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Pro ranges being very popular among SA motorists. The addition of several new model introductions, including a refreshed flagship range, a new entry-level model and a new range in the form of the Tiggo Pro 7 MAX has also helped!
Expanded Lineup In 2024
Chery has also committed to increasing their product lineup locally in 2024. They have also placed a big emphasis on hybridisation with their new energy products including the Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid, Tiggo 7 Pro Plug-in Hybrid, and eQ series.
The automaker is also set to launch a series of these new PHEV and BEV models, equipped with cutting-edge technologies, artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and an intelligent cockpit!
